Kene Azie practiced law in Nigeria before relocating to Canada. He commenced articles of clerkship with Code Hunter in August 2023.
Background
Mr. Azie holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nigeria and a Barristers at Law Degree from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja Campus.
Before relocating to Canada in 2022, Mr. Azie practiced at a national law firm, focusing on corporate and commercial litigation involving projects and infrastructure Development, corporate finance, energy and election related matters.
In the course of his practice in Nigeria, Mr. Azie conducted trials and appeals at various Courts and tribunals including the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Community Service
As a law student, Mr. Azie served as an elected official of the University of Nigeria Students Legal Aid Council, which provides Pro Bono services to indigent community members.
As a lawyer, Mr. Azie was an active member of the NBA-SPIDEL (Section on Public Interest and Development Law of Nigeria Bar Association). Mr. Azie was also the pioneer secretary of LIFFE (Lawyers Interested in Free and Fair Elections) at its inception in 2009, a Non-Governmental Organization of lawyers in Nigeria in charge of monitoring the conduct of elections.
Currently, Mr. Azie volunteers at Our Savior Anglican Church Men Association, Calgary.
